Franzen Security doors in potentially explosive areas
All Franzen hinged doors "System Schröders" are approved for installation in potentially explosive atmospheres according to
- DIN EN 1127-1
- EX-Zone 1, EX-Zone 21 (category 2) und
- Ex-Zone 2, EX-Zone 22 (category 3)
According to the European Commission's ATEX guidance on Directive 2014/34/EU (Directive on the harmonization of the laws of the Member States concerning equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive areas), automatically closing doors do not fall within the scope of Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX) as they do not have their own source of ignition.
Equipment on Franzen doors "System Schröders" in potentially explosive areas
The following equipment is mandatory for Franzen doors "System Schröders" in potentially explosive areas:
- Stainless steel handle set
- Door closer according to EN 1154 (also for doors without fire protection or smoke control requirements)
- Metal locks with steel latch and bolt
- Locking plates made of steel / stainless steel
- Warning sign Clean damp only
- Potential equalization from door leaf to frame (ground strap)
- Potential equalization from the frame to the building structure
The following equipment must not be used in potentially explosive areas:
- Electrical components without ATEX approval / conformity (e.g. hold-open systems, electric strikes, electric locks, alarm wire inserts, escape door strikes).
- Floor grinding seals
- Handle sets made of plastic
- Ram protection made of plastic
- Spring hinge
